Our History
Our Beginning
Veteran Adjusting School (VAS) was born from a conversation between co-founders Guy Grand and Gary Pitts. They identified two major challenges: the insurance industry’s need for adjusters who consistently deliver high-quality work, and the troubling reality that 35% of our returning U.S. Veterans were unemployed. With a shared commitment to solving both problems, they set out to build a solution that would make a difference.
Together with Operations Manager Cheryl Sinn, they spent the next year navigating state and federal regulations to establish VAS as a licensed vocational school—the first of its kind in the country, focused solely on training insurance adjusters. Approved by the Arizona State Board for Private Postsecondary Education and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, VAS could now accept educational benefits for America’s heroes.
Our Exit
- Closing our brick and mortar operations frees us from the limitations of state and federal regulations — allowing VAS to expand its reach and support more adjusters, IA firms, and carriers than ever before.
- Our mission remains the same: to raise the bar of excellence, consistency, and professionalism across the insurance adjusting industry. What's changed is how we deliver on that mission. Through the VAS Consulting framework, we now support the full insurance adjusting ecosystem — training new adjusters entering the field, refining the skills of experienced adjusters, preparing IA firms for CAT deployment, and standardizing workflows for carrier staff.
- Every service we offer is built on the VAS Process — a structured, proven methodology that unifies photo documentation, estimating, and claim reporting into a single, consistent work product. Whether we're working with an independent adjuster on day one or helping a carrier align their field and desk operations, the standard never changes.

- For years, VAS operated within the boundaries that the VA and a licensed vocational school required. Those boundaries are gone. What remains is the expertise, the methodology, and the relationships built over years of raising industry standards.
