TRAINING FOR VETERANS

Catastrophic insurance adjusters can gross between $70,000 to $100,000 in 6 to 8 months. This career is matched up perfectly with the skills and characteristics developed in the armed forces. As a licensed postsecondary vocational school that is VA approved for tuition assistance under the 9/11 GI Bill ®, Veteran Adjusting School provides the most complete and comprehensive training for Veterans to become CAT Adjusters.

What is CAT Adjusting?

When a region is devastated by a natural disaster (hurricane, hail storm, wildfire, etc.), catastrophic or CAT adjusters are deployed to the affected area to estimate damages for insurance agencies. They are independently contracted to represent the agency at the catastrophic event to assess how much money the insured homeowner is entitled to under their policy.

The contracted adjuster is paid for every claim that they are able to close. This is why there is so much opportunity for a hard working adjuster to make up to 6-figures during the storm season.

Why Are Veterans Ideal CAT Adjusters?

The skills that are developed in the military are essential to being successful in the catastrophic adjusting field. It takes hard work, self-motivation, organization, and dedication to excel in the career of CAT adjusting.

As a representative of the insurance agencies, you must be able to uphold the company’s reputation and be able to work efficiently to close claims. The work must be conducted with an understanding of the customer’s loss after the tragic event.

The Best Training For Veterans

Veteran Adjusting School (VAS) was built with the direct intention of training and delivering job placement for Veterans. VAS works with more than 15 insurance partners to assure job placement right out of school.

Along with VA tuition assistance, VAS has the most comprehensive course for catastrophic adjusting. The course includes:

  • 30 adjuster subjects
  • 40 real world claims
  • Xactimate level 2 training
  • Mentorship through and even post-graduation
  • In-the-field adjuster training
  • Laptop & tools

For a rewarding career in catastrophic insurance adjusting, VAS is the best training for veterans.

CAT ADJUSTERS GEAR UP FOR STORM SEASON

Welcome to Tornado Season

As the month of March comes to a close we start to see  shifting weather patterns bring all the ingredients of storm season together.  Catastrophic Adjusters around the country are gearing up to head into the aftermath of this first batch of Tornados.  After the devastation rolls through town, adjusters are some of the first people on the scene to help families and communities move forward.

Rebuilding after a major storm can be a long a difficult process, and it is usually pretty costly!  An adjuster plays a key role in getting things moving in the right direction.  They act as the representative of the insurance company and are on site to ensure that the insured (the homeowner or property owner) is compensated for all of the loss they have sustained and were insured against.

THE FIRST STEPS FORWARD

It is the task of the adjuster to assess the extent of the damage and be the eyes of the insurance company.  Once they have verified the damage (the loss), the adjuster is often authorized to provide the insured with some of their first financial compensation for the loss they have sustained.  Most of our adjusters report that this is one of the most rewarding aspects of their job.

“The look on their faces when I hand them that first check that they can use to start rebuilding…it’s huge!  These people have just lost everything and it seems hopeless to try to move forward.  Most of the time they are still just trying to figure out what is going on.  But that check represents a path forward, and I get to be the one to hand it to them. It feels good to be there representing hope and the ability to step out from the mess.”
 -Jason
“Everywhere I go, I get to be like Santa Clause!  I get to hand out money and everyone is happy to see me!”
-Matt

With this first bit of financial empowerment, families and communities begin to move forward and move on.  The adjuster represents the turning point between catastrophe and building the future.

Surprisingly, many people have no idea that they can have a great career by becoming a catastrophic insurance adjuster.  On top of feeling good about the work they are doing to help people rebuild their lives, CAT adjusters can gross over $100,000 working as little as 6 months our of the year.  And many of them spend their “off-season” enjoying their Freetime in the company of friends and family.  It is a job that is both rewarding and it pays well, but almost no one knows about it.

5 REASONS YOU SHOULD CONSIDER CATASTROPHIC INSURANCE ADJUSTING

5 Reasons Construction Professionals Like You Should Consider Catastrophic Insurance Adjusting as a New Career

There is a little-known niche market in the insurance adjusting business called catastrophic insurance adjusting. What many carpenters and construction professionals don’t know is how well suited they are to this rewarding career.

5 Reasons You Should Consider Catastrophic Insurance Adjusting

1. Let’s start with Six Figures in Six Months.

A Catastrophe (CAT) adjuster’s income is derived solely by their work product and the amount of natural catastrophes that happen per year. The national average for insurance adjusters in general, is $58,000 per year. However, Catastrophe Adjusters make much more in a shorter amount of time. Why? Because CAT adjusters are the first responders after a catastrophic event and as such are paid much more for their work product. Not everybody is cut out for CAT adjusting but with the proper training and mentorship almost anyone who wants this exciting career can have it.

2. Construction Professionals already possess much of the background knowledge and skills to be successful CAT adjusters.
You don’t need a college degree. All you need is your high school equivalent and your dedication and desire, to have a rewarding career. A good Insurance Claims Adjuster must know how to explain in writing, what damage they saw and why their estimate for repairs includes what it does. Anyone who can write a complete sentence can be taught the proper way to do that. But what construction proffessionals have that others don’t is an intimate knowledge of bulting and construction methods.  They require much less training to understand the terminology of the industry.
3. Working as a CAT adjuster gives you time to spend with your friends and family.
Storm season usually hits around the end of March and runs through October or November. Some years you can be out for that amount of time, other years you will go on a storm deployment for a few weeks then be home for a few weeks and then back out again. As an independent catastrophic insurance adjuster You Are Your Own Boss and you decide when and where you go and for how long. It’s typical that a CAT adjuster will have anywhere from five to seven months off per year, giving you plenty of time to enjoy whatever it is you enjoy most.
4. Catastrophic Insurance Adjusting is a challenging job, but the reward of helping others in need is priceless.
You will travel all over the country helping people get their lives back in order after a storm event. You will meet the richest of the rich and poorest of the poor in towns all over the country. And in every case you will be the person who is there to help.
5. With the mentorship and training offered by Veteran Adjusting School, you will be Job Ready from Day One!
Veteran Adjusting School is the first and only licensed post secondary vocational school specifically designed to take you from “What is a CAT adjuster” all the way through your first storm deployment. We have partnering adjusting firms willing to waive their 2-4 year work experience for our graduates.
If the economy has set you back and you are looking for additional in person or online vocational training you owe it to yourself to explore becoming a VAS-Trained adjuster. Our partners are waiting for you.

KRIS NELSON’S TESTIMONIAL AFTER VETERAN ADJUSTING SCHOOL GRADUATION

We just wanted to share a letter we recently received from one of the graduates of Veteran Adjusting School.  Kris wrote in to tell us how the experience has been.  If you have been wanting to hear about our program from someone with a first-hand knowledge check out the letter below.  We will let the letter speak for itself.

Kris writes…

Hey Guys,

Just a quick note to say you’re the best teachers and mentors I’ve ever had. I never knew how much I would love being an adjuster.  Now that I’ve completed the VAS trained adjuster program and have been working I’m well on my way. Being from California it took a while to get started running day claims, but with the help of one of your VAS partnering IA firms I’ve started getting a steady stream of claims.

With storm season well under way…now I can really show my employers all I’ve learned from you and all you’ve done to make me a VAS trained adjuster.  I continue running claims as they come in and keep working with the full year subscription to Xactimate you provided as part of my tuition.

On that note, I researched other adjuster training schools before signing up to the VAS Trained  vocational school and I can honestly say none of them provided the student with a new computer and a full year’s subscription to Xactimate. Not to mention the mentorship when I got my first few claims.

Gary, I also want to say thank you so much for taking me to Boise to work with you for a week or so. Actually seeing and touching damage really helped.

Thank you, thank you, thank you my friends and family at Veteran Adjusting School

Kris N.
