5 REASONS YOU SHOULD CONSIDER CATASTROPHIC INSURANCE ADJUSTING

5 Reasons Construction Professionals Like You Should Consider Catastrophic Insurance Adjusting as a New Career

There is a little-known niche market in the insurance adjusting business called catastrophic insurance adjusting. What many carpenters and construction professionals don’t know is how well suited they are to this rewarding career.

5 Reasons You Should Consider Catastrophic Insurance Adjusting

1. Let’s start with Six Figures in Six Months.

A Catastrophe (CAT) adjuster’s income is derived solely by their work product and the amount of natural catastrophes that happen per year. The national average for insurance adjusters in general, is $58,000 per year. However, Catastrophe Adjusters make much more in a shorter amount of time. Why? Because CAT adjusters are the first responders after a catastrophic event and as such are paid much more for their work product. Not everybody is cut out for CAT adjusting but with the proper training and mentorship almost anyone who wants this exciting career can have it.

2. Construction Professionals already possess much of the background knowledge and skills to be successful CAT adjusters.
You don’t need a college degree. All you need is your high school equivalent and your dedication and desire, to have a rewarding career. A good Insurance Claims Adjuster must know how to explain in writing, what damage they saw and why their estimate for repairs includes what it does. Anyone who can write a complete sentence can be taught the proper way to do that. But what construction proffessionals have that others don’t is an intimate knowledge of bulting and construction methods.  They require much less training to understand the terminology of the industry.
3. Working as a CAT adjuster gives you time to spend with your friends and family.
Storm season usually hits around the end of March and runs through October or November. Some years you can be out for that amount of time, other years you will go on a storm deployment for a few weeks then be home for a few weeks and then back out again. As an independent catastrophic insurance adjuster You Are Your Own Boss and you decide when and where you go and for how long. It’s typical that a CAT adjuster will have anywhere from five to seven months off per year, giving you plenty of time to enjoy whatever it is you enjoy most.
4. Catastrophic Insurance Adjusting is a challenging job, but the reward of helping others in need is priceless.
You will travel all over the country helping people get their lives back in order after a storm event. You will meet the richest of the rich and poorest of the poor in towns all over the country. And in every case you will be the person who is there to help.

Have you been thinking about a career change?  Have you heard about CAT Adjusting but you don’t really know what it is all about?  Here is what you need to know about this rewarding career!

Individuals and businesses purchase insurance policies to protect against monetary losses. In the event of a loss, policyholders submit claims or requests for payment, seeking compensation for their loss. Claims Adjusters deal with those claims.

WHAT IS THEIR MAIN ROLE?

An Insurance Adjuster has 3 primary roles:

  • INVESTIGATE

By interviewing the policyholder and inspecting property damage the adjuster can determine how much money the company should pay for the loss.

  • EVALUATE

The information gathered—including photographs and statements, either written or recorded audio or video—is set down in a report that is then used to evaluate the claim.

  • SETTLE

When the policyholder’s claim is approved, the claims adjuster negotiates with the policyholder and settles the claim.

What Are The Benefits To Catastrophic Adjusting

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS TO CATASTROPHIC ADJUSTING?

When a natural catastrophic event (like a hurricane, flood, or earthquake) hits, the people affected by the devastation need their insurance company to compensate them so they can start putting their lives back together. That’s when insurance agencies will contract out work to independent catastrophic insurance claims adjusters to estimate the damage. But what are the benefits to catastrophic adjusting.

  • 6 figures in 6 months
  • Time off
  • Helping people

6 Figures in 6 Months

In as little as 6 months a catastrophic (or CAT) adjuster can make a 6 figure income. This requires hard work, long days, and a thorough knowledge of the CAT adjusting field. You must also be able to handle working and living in a devastated region for months and months at a time.

Time Off

Just as you will need to work long and hard days for months at a time, you will have months off at a time. This allows you the freedom and ability to spend some of your hard earned income. So although you will be working hard for a while, you won’t be shackled to the job every day.

Helping People

As a catastrophic insurance claims adjuster, you will be dealing with people who have had their lives turn up-side-down. CAT adjusters are contracted to work for the agencies, and are not employees. Your job is to get the people the compensation they are entitled to. The people affected by the disaster are desperate for help, and that’s the reason the adjusters are there. You are able to take the first steps in getting those people back on their feet.

Veteran Adjusting School

VAS or Veteran Adjusting School is a vocational trade school that fully trains its students to be successful in the CAT adjusting field. VAS walks its students through all of the registrations, and certifications you will need to practice adjusting. The school also gives the thorough training, and tools you will need.  This includes a Xactimate software, subscription, and a laptop to perform your estimations.

Insurance Adjuster School

INSURANCE ADJUSTING SCHOOL

Insurance companies need adjusters. But where do you train to become a successful insurance adjuster? Before you decide what insurance adjuster school you want, you should figure out what type of estimator you want to become. There are two types of insurance adjusters:

  1. 1.Independent Insurance Adjusters
  2. 2.Insurance Company Employees

Independent Insurance Adjusters

Independent Insurance Adjusters are contracted work from insurance agencies when they are in need of extra help. This is mainly the case when there is a catastrophic event.

Catastrophic or CAT adjusters are trained to handle all types of insurance claims, and can make 6 figures in 6 months. Some motivated CAT adjusters have been known to make $300,000 to $400,000 in 6 months estimating natural disaster events.

Insurance Agency Employees

Insurance agencies will generally hire and train their employees through their own adjusting school courses. To apply to an insurance agency you must have a high school graduation equivalent. Insurance employees will generally make between $25,000 – $60,000 a year.

Where to Train

Where do you find the best adjusting school? VAS or Veteran Adjusting School is the best school when it comes to training fully qualified successful catastrophic claims adjusters. The training received at VAS is so successful, (even though most insurance agencies will not hire estimators that have no experience) Veteran Adjusting schools insurance agency partners hires VAS for CAT events after graduation.

Best Job For Vets

BEST JOB FOR VETS

Veterans have put their lives on the line to defend our great country. When it comes to getting a high paying job, they deserve the best. But, what is the best job for vets? My experience suggests that catastrophic insurance adjusting (CAT adjusting) is the perfect fit for our returning heroes.

CAT Adjusting

When a natural catastrophic disaster (like hurricane, tornado, etc.) hits a populated region, insurance companies need to hire independent CAT adjusters to quickly get their customers their needed compensation.

Why Is CAT Adjusting Ideal for Veterans?

Because of the experience, discipline, and exposure received in the armed forces; veterans are well suited to be very successful in this field of work. The job involves being in devastated regions, and requires a high level of work ethic. Although a CAT adjuster will have to work long days for months at a time, they are highly compensated and have many months off at a time to enjoy their high income.

How Do I Become A CAT Adjuster?

VAS or Veteran Adjusting School ( ) offers a comprehensive course that turns our vets into independent catastrophic insurance adjusters. It is the only school that will guide you through all of the certifications and registrations you will need. VAS also provides you with the knowledge, tools, experience, and post-graduation support you will need to be successful in the field.

Veteran Adjusting School also has insurance agency partners that are so confident in the education provided, that they hire VAS graduates to handle claims for catastrophic events. Being a VAS graduate also qualifies you to handle any type of insurance claim. This means you can do small claims for insurance companies in between natural disasters.
